CALEA Accreditation
The Clayton Police Department distinguishes itself annually as an internationally recognized accredited agency.
In 2009, the department became the first law enforcement agency in Johnston County – and one of only five departments of its size in the state – to earn the highly-valued recognition for professional excellence from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The department went on to earn this prestigious honor again 2012 and, in 2015 achieved the Gold Standard, the most difficult and painstaking accreditation process an agency can seek. North Carolina has roughly 70 accredited law enforcement agencies, with only a quarter of those meeting the Gold Standard.
Thank you to those citizens who gave their time and shared their feedback with the CALEA assessment processes.
